Mariners Men continue their unbeaten away run with a 3-1 win against Brisbane Roar at Suncorp Stadium in Brisbane.  This result sees the men accrue 8 points from 4 away games.

The Mariners started strongly and were rewarded with a goal in the 11th minute after receiving a free wide on the left.  Mikael Doka struck a curling ball into the penalty box with the ball coming off Brisbane's Walid Shour for an own goal.

From that point Brisbane started to dominate periods of possession with several chances going begging but the score remained 1-0 in favour of the Mariners.

Brisbane made a substitution for the second half in bringing on Jacob Brazete that strengthened the Brisbane attacks down their left-hand side.

In the 71st minute, Brisbane levelled the score with such an attack.  Corey Brown’s cross went over the heads of all players in the Mariner’s penalty box to an unmarked Ben Halloran who scored.

This seemed to spur the Mariners and 10 minutes later went ahead 2-1.  A run down the right by Storm Roux resulted in him placing a beautiful cross into the Brisbane penalty box.  The cross was met by a running Harrison Steele who headed the ball in the top left corner.

Youngster Arthur De Lima was given his A-League debut when substituted on in the 87th minute.  The teenager did not take long to make his mark by scoring in the 5th minute of extra time to seal the win.

After several passes moving the ball from the left side of the pitch to the right, it found its way to De Lima who made space for himself to get a left-foot shot.  The ball deflected off a Brisbane defender to loop into the goal just inside the right-hand upright.

The Mariner’s Men continue their string of away games whose next opponents are Sydney FC on 11th January 2025.  The game is scheduled to be played at Allianz Stadium with a kick-off for 7:35pm.
