Friday evening the Mariners Women play out an entertaining 3-3 draw against a travelling Perth Glory side that went right down to the final whistle.

The Mariners outfit started better than their opponents, but it was almost Perth who scored first in the 12th minute.  A long range shot from Perth that was headed for the top right-hand corner.  Sarah Langman had other ideas and somehow got a hand onto the ball, forcing the ball onto the upright and back out into general paly.

The Mariners continued to pressure with it paying dividends with the Mariners scoring first in the 19th minute.  A set piece from a corner found the ball in the penalty box and after several players had attempts to shoot or clear the ball, Jessika Nash for the Mariners drilled the ball into the top right corner of the goal.

Gomez had a chance to add a second goal in the 37th minute but her shot went just wide of the right hand upright.

Scores was 1-0 to the Mariners at half time.

It did not take long in the second half for the score to change but this time it was the visitors who scored.  A set piece wide on the left to Perth saw the free kick head towards goal with ball going through Langman's hands into the goal.

In the 50th minute it was the Mariners with another chance after Gomez drove forward through the mid-field.  Her pass to Trimis was perfect with the resulting shot being well saved by the Glory goalkeeper.

Six minutes later it was Perth to take the lead.  A well placed through ball to O'Donoghue saw her with only Langman to beat which she did.  Perth leading 2-1.

The score was to change again six minutes later but this time it was the Mariners.  The creator of the opportunities was Brooks Nunn who put a through ball to Trimis on the left.  Trimis struck a first time cross into the path of Annalise Rasmussen who has no trouble converting the opportunity.  Score 2-2.

Just over six later another change in the scoreline with the Mariners scoring.  Another through ball from Gomez found Fuller alone on the left with only the keeper to beat.  Fuller calmly rounded the Glory keeper and converted the opportunity to the empty goal mouth.

Mariners' fans thought that the points were secured when the game was in the 3rd minute of extra time.  The Perth Glory has other ideas with an opportunity that resulted in a shot that beat Langman with the ball deflecting into goal off the left-hand post.

Final score was 3-3.

The Mariner's Ninja A-League Women's team is next in action against Wellington Phoenix in Wellington on Saturday, 22nd March 2025.  Kick-off is scheduled for 2:00pm AEDT.
